The free Adobe Scan app turns your mobile device into a portable scanner that recognizes text automatically (OCR). Capture new images with your camera or grab any image from your device. The app converts images to PDF and saves them to Adobe Document Cloud. By default, the app automatically converts image text to real text via optical character recognition (OCR). Edit your PDFs using features such as crop, adjust the color, resize pages, delete pages, and rotate pages. Your final images can also be saved as JPEGs.

Adobe Scan is free to all users, but additional functionality is available for Faculty, Students, Staff and anyone else with full access to the Adobe Creative Cloud.

• Make readings accessible. Adobe Scan features OCR, making your class readings more accessible and also easier to use with PDF annotaters and social annotation tools such as Hypothes.is.
• Help students submit assignments. If you require students to submit assignments as PDFs, Adobe Scan can help them convert their physical documents.
• Create files of student projects. Students can create physical posters and collages, turn them into PDF files, and then enhance and edit them further.
• Scan your board. Had a good class? Scan your whiteboard or blackboard and create a PDF to remember what you did next semester—or provide the notes to your students.
